Stanford Street Festival @ Queen Victoria Street, Stanford
Dec 17 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Stanford Street Festival @ Queen Victoria Street, Stanford

Sunday, 17 December 10:00 – 16:00: Stanford Street Festival

The main street in Stanford, called Queen Victoria, is closed to traffic on 17 December for a carnival style street market including food, beer, wine, gifts, crafts, art, kiddies’ activities, classic cars, music. Get all your Christmas shopping done at once, and keep your family happy with a fun day out in the beautiful country, heritage village.

The Stanford Street Festival is a unique outdoor street festival held on Stanford’s Queen Victoria Street . It captures the thrill of summertime holidays, festive season fun, and a carnival-style street market that offers a complete range of activities including Christmas shopping, street entertainment and special activities. This year, the Stanford Street Festival is going green in an effort to reduce single-use plastic and waste. We encourage visitors to buy branded glasses for tasting instead of using plastic cups, as every effort has been made to invite vendors who stock locally made, sustainable products. The Stanford Street Festival is striving to go green.

The Stanford Dip Street Race is a special event for skateboarders and longboarders, and involves racing down Queen Victoria Street and through what locals call, The Stanford Dip. My Spar Stanford has donated cash prizes for this adrenalin-filled race.

There will be street performers, jugglers, children’s activities, a ‘ready, steady, slow’ snail race, a food court, a Stanford Wine Route Courtyard and a beer tent featuring local craft breweries.

There will also be live music performed by the Stanford Jazzfordians who will keep your toes tapping with their cool, easy jazz numbers.

A chance to ‘taste village life’:

  • 150 stalls as well as all the shops and restaurants in Queen Victoria Street which open all Sunday
  • Live street music including Stanford Jazzfordians
  • Street performers including acrobats, tumblers and jugglers. These were a great success on the street where groups of people, especially children, gather to see these acts.
  • Promotion of the Stanford Wine Route and local micro breweries. A wine courtyard and beer tent will be created adjacent to the street with an associated eating area where local food producers will sell their wares. There will be food trucks, and local food treats ranging from baked goods and fresh juices, to shwarmas and wraps. Local restaurants will also be open serving croissants, pizzas, curries, steaks, gelato and excellent coffees. The area will include the offer of Champagne and Oysters as well as mead, grappa and infused gins from local producers.
  • Food, wine, gift and craft stalls.
  • Classic cars, and vintage tractors will be parked along a part of the street.
  • Father Christmas will hand out sweets to children
  • Ready-stead-slow snail races for children
  • The Stanford Dip Street Queen Victoria Street section from Moore Street to Church Street was closed to create an event for children and teenagers – free registration on the day
  • Iziko Museum mobile exhibition
  • Pony rides and ‘Blue train’ rides for kids

We have considerable experience running craft and food markets, and can’t wait to welcome visitors to this street festival that will fill your heart with nostalgia. Free entrance, free parking on the sprawling heritage Market Square, and fun for the whole family, this is a community festival supported by Cape Whale Coast Tourism and organized by volunteers.
