Stoep Talk: October 2014

Isn’t October a beautiful time of year? Apart from the carpet of purple and yellow flowers dusting the fields and slopes, cialis tiny fledglings are testing their wings, buy tadpoles are investigating the river, here and the swallows have returned (both feathered and non-feathered!).

Here in our little corner of the globe, we are getting ready for a very busy holiday season. There’s a real buzz in the air – the exciting news is that our much-loved Stanford Table will be re-opening on 31 October, serving delicious meals made with love by Jake and Esther Uys. A new coffee shop, The Stanford Harvest, is opening on 15 November selling breakfast, lunches and teas. Also new on our streets is the Stanford Treasure Trove, a shop with a difference full of beautiful fine furnishings and well-worth a visit!

Market season has also started up again, and the monthly sunset markets will be the place to meet friends, taste wine and sample artisanal foods. The St. Thomas Anglican Church will have their annual bazaar on 25 October so don’t miss out on the fun. There will be all sorts of cars and furniture on auction at the Hopeland Auction 8 November. Who knows what bargains you will pick up? All proceeds are going to build a much-needed pre-school in Stanford so please come and have a look.

On Friday, 14 November, Tina Schouw is performing live at The Tasting Room for one night only. Her music is an eclectic blend of jazz, folk and pop. She calls herself a ‘heartist’ and believes in using music as a medium for healing. Her lyrics speak about her thoughts on love, life and humanity.  Tickets are available from Stanford Tourism and Stanford Hills Estate.

That’s all for now, folks. And remember, if anyone asks where you got your news, tell them you heard it through the Grapevine!
