Bugler’s cottage is one of the original labourer’s cottages on Sir Robert’s Stanford’s farm, and dates back to the early 1860s. It is the only cottage in Stanford that is still true to its original form, except for internal changes and the addition of a bathroom at the back.

It was lovingly restored in 2012 and made structurally sound after internal support structures were removed as people grew taller over the years and would bump their heads against the low beams! Some of the “boer-maak-‘n-plan” methods have been retained for posterity, such as the barbed wire and “hanebalke” to try and keep the roof together.

This one-bedroom cottage oozes charm whilst taking you back in history. It can accommodate a family of 3, as there is a daybed (and a Queen Anne stove!) in the lounge area. The bathroom consists of a shower and bath. There is a large patio/ braai area and a still to be fixed jacuzzi in the garden. The property is enclosed with secured off-street parking and is pet-friendly.
